March 6-8, 2026
The weekend is here which means I won’t be blogging as much because I won’t have any new information to share. I’ll start on the questions list for you; ok, add to and edit the questions list for you. I’ll put it in a printable PDF and you can choose to print it or simply keep it handy on your phone for your upcoming appointments.
Google Pixel has a record feature built in and I’m sure that you can download an app to do the same thing regardless of Android or Apple. Even if you have someone attending appointments with you, ask if you can record your appointments. Maybe it’s just MY memory that sucks lately but if this is a part of the overwhelm and affects everyone, this could be a breakthrough remedy!
I keep trying to get information from Dylan regarding the trip downstate to pick up the recovery items from my sister. As of Friday, March 6th, the plan is for me to drop him off in Howell to visit a friend and be there to sharpen the household knives. Last time he was there Dylan sharpened his friend’s hunting knife. Afterward, his friend’s family pulled alllll their knives and said they wanted Dylan to sharpen them.
It was a relatively chill night of work but I’m always glad to hand things off on Saturday morning.
As I was packing for the trip down to metro Detroit, Dylan stated that he wasn’t feeling well. I keep asking him about his stress level. I mean, this diagnosis doesn’t just affect me and he is my sole caretaker since I live almost two hours from family and friends. He keeps shrugging and saying that the ADHD keeps him from really dwelling on anything and he’s handling it like he’s handled his own diagnoses and hospital stays in the past. There really is nothing more that he or I can do about this except follow the treatment plan and be as prepared as possible for after. That doesn’t mean, though, that the stress isn’t festering somewhere. In Dylan’s case, a toothache.
It was pouring rain when I left to head to my sister’s house. We’d just had two major, deadly tornados the day prior – in MARCH! I keep seeing the destruction on Facebook and various news sites and my heart goes out to everyone in those areas. What gets me is the first hand accounts taken by cell phone. People, get in the basement!!
When I was younger, MUCH younger, and visiting family in Indiana I saw the aftermath of a tornado very near where I was staying. I was in the basement sleeping so I had no idea about what was happening outside overnight. While I do understand the fascination of watching rain and loving thunderstorms, after that incident, I have no desire to be above ground with sirens going off let alone taking video footage of houses going up in the air.
Anyway, I made it downstate just fine. I stopped at my favorite bagel place and grabbed a few to take home. The rain had been raining off and on since about halfway but had stopped when/where I had stopped for bagels. By the time I got through the line, maybe 15-20 minutes, the storm cell had caught up with me and I endured more rain making my way back to the highway. I was about 15 minutes from my sister’s house when traffic came to a complete standstill. I must have gotten to the area just as first responders arrived because the three cars on the roadway were still there and there was one in the median between the north and south roadways. Other than the debris in the roadway, it didn’t look too bad. Tow trucks were on-site and getting the cars off the shoulder. This was just two miles south of a deadly accident on Friday. A couple of things *please turn on your lights in the rain! *you’re not going to get there faster if you end up in the ditch or have an accident and *your phone is a convenience not an extension of your arm, put it down and focus on the road. I wish these things were taught in driving school. I know that there are laws that prohibit texting and driving but people still ignore it and think it won’t happen to them.
By the time I pulled into my sister’s driveway, the sun was shining and the ground had started to dry and it was really a pretty day. My brother in law yelled at me (in jest – I THINK!) for just walking in. Whatever, dude! But I do also understand his point, I made the assumption that my message to my sister was received and she knew I was minutes away.
My sister and I sat and chatted while my brother in law loaded the fridge and TV. Because it had been raining and my house is in its own little microclimate, I had brought tarps and ratchet straps to secure the items in the bed of the truck. The TV was loaded into the cab. The truck I bought used to be a road crew truck so it has a table attached between the passenger seat and center console to hold a laptop along with assorted wiring for wifi and power to the laptop..
My brother in law asked about it and said he didn’t think he could stand it. I said I can’t but Dylan wanted to keep it. I told him I wanted to put it on eBay or sell it elsewhere since I got the truck, but didn’t have the tools to remove it. Since my brother in law just retired from HVAC, he has a plethora of tools and offered to take it out. I explained that when I looked, it required removing the seat. He went and looked and discovered he could take the support pole and table off in one piece and just leave the plate attached to the seat. Yay!
We chatted a bunch but it was getting late in the day and my sister asked about going to eat. I said I was going with or without her! Though Dylan and I found a good Mexican restaurant, and we’ve been several times, I wasn’t going to be 6 miles from one of my favorites and not go.
After lunch, I went to do the errands that Dylan usually does when he comes down which is on the way to the highway home. I would have liked to visit a few other places but I hadn’t slept after work and had been up for more than 24 hours. I opened my Mountain Dew Zero and headed back north.
Dylan was feeling better when I got back home and he unloaded the fridge and table. Once those were wiped out and cleaned – nor that my sister is dirty but isn’t it normal to clean something when you bring it home? – I sat down and was suddenly utterly exhausted so I was in bed and asleep before dark.
Sunday morning at 2am was “spring forward” but I still slept 9 hours. When I got up I changed the few clocks that still require manual change and started my Sunday. Very briefly anyway – I was back in bed by 2pm. Not to sleep but I felt drugged/hungover. I just doom scrolled for a few hours. Around 4:30, I heard Dylan up so I got up and asked Dylan what he would be able to eat. Comfort food was my preferred genre, and macaroni and cheese always hits the spot, Dylan also felt that he would be able to eat it.
I find it amusing that I prefer Kraft only because I never had it as a kid and he prefers homemade because he always had Kraft. It really doesn’t take any more time to make homemade and I always keep everything on hand because it is so good that’s what I made.
After mac-n-cheese, I decided to take off the stand on the TV and install the hooks for the free standing mount. After a few false starts I was able to get the mount onto the back of the TV and Dylan put it on the stand itself. I got online and ordered DVDs or Blu Rays of my comfort TV shows and I’m excited to have Friends playing in the background all during recovery. I know each and every episode so well, I can just hear it and it plays in my brain.
Since I’d had two bagels and macaroni and cheese, I was in carb overload and was in bed again by 9pm. I didn’t sleep but just doom scrolled again. I think I need to get one of those “cell phone jails” that are on a timer. Of course, I also have a tablet and laptop so I’m not entirely sure locking up my cell phone for just existing would help any.
